This photograph is a good example of the Great Depression because the empty factory represents the vast amounts of unemployment that United States citizens experienced. The Great Depression lasted from 1929 to 1941, and thousands of businesses throughout the country were forced to close down due to money problems. These problems were finally resolved by the beginning of the United States entry into World War II, during December of 1941. Most of the unemployed men signed up to help fight, and the war created a multitude of new jobs, most of them being factory workers.
